The Group started its operations in September 1949, in the city of Santiago, Chile, and currently operates in the energy generation, mining, tourism, aquaculture, shipbuilding and repair sectors, including a shipyard located in the city of Puerto Montt, in the south of the country.
In Latin America, the Group stands out as one of the main suppliers of parts and services for engines and it is the official representative of important brands. In addition to the units in Chile, it is also present in the USA, Argentina and Peru.
In Brazil, activities began in 2002 through the Detroit Brasil shipyard, and were later consolidated with the birth of Starnav Serviços Marítimos, a Brazilian maritime company that is one of the main operators in the country’s port and offshore support markets.
With shipyards on the East (Atlantic) and West (Pacific) coasts, the group is strategically placed to offer the best experience in naval services in the south of the continent.

With more than 20 years of operation, the shipyard is placed in the city of Itajaí – Santa Catarina, one of the main naval clusters in Brazil and close to the main ports and access roads in the region.
Focused on medium-sized and hi-tech workboats, the shipyard has been updated over the years and currently has a world-class modern infrastructure, including a large yard and elevating dock with a capacity of 5200 tons, in addition to a highly specialized team and its own group of engineers who are capable of meeting the most different demands of the naval market.
With more than 100 vessels built for different shipowners and classification societies, the shipyard is proud to maintain an uninterrupted history of construction since its foundation and have great know-how in shipbuilding and repair, which allows us to offer an international quality standard.

Starnav Serviços Marítimos, a company that consolidates the presence of Detroit S.A. in Brazil, is a Brazilian Maritime Company (“EBN”), specialized in port and offshore support, which operates in the main ports throughout the Brazilian coast, especially in support activities for the oil and gas industry in the country.
With one of the most capable and modern fleets in Brazil and every day seeking a more efficient and safe operation, the company, with the help of Detroit Brasil Ltda. shipyard, constantly invests in vessel improvements and fleet expansion, which today includes LHs and PSVs equipped with the main technologies available on the market.
With more than a decade of operation, the company occupies a prominent position in the national market and is focused on the operability of its vessels. For this, in addition to a robust program of fleet expansion and modernization, it uses training centers to train and improve its operation and maintenance team, which results in an extremely specialized and competent team.
